The US Environmental Protection Agency has determined that any lead in drinking water is dangerous to human health. Lead water lines or galvanized water lines connected to lead connectors were used for much of the first half of the twentieth century. Many of those lines are still in use. EPA has decided that all of these lines need to be changed out to safer service lines in the next 10 years. Williamson did its lead service line inventory and found some of our lines are old, galvanized lines. We cannot prove they have never been connected to lead lines or connectors, though that is highly unlikely.
The service lines are of split ownership. The city side lines will be replaced by the city. The customer side lines will also be replaced with customer permission. The list below is where galvanized lines were found.
Residences on the list will be receiving official notices via certified mail.
